Information For Pupils
The NHS celebrated its 60th Anniversary on Saturday 5 July 2008. This date marked a significant milestone in history when everyone in Great Britain was provided with free access to a family doctor, prescription drugs or dentures for the very first time.
The introduction of the NHS sparked a number of medical breakthroughs and over the last 60 years there have been some significant advances in healthcare. As technology develops and research evolves we wonder what the NHS might look like in 60 years.
We therefore invite you to enter our NHS 60th Anniversary Writing Competition and tell us:
What do you think the NHS will look like in another 60 years in 2068?
You can write as much or as little as you want, in any format you prefer. We will accept a letter, a factual essay, an imaginative story, a poem or something completely different. It’s up to you. You can even illustrate your writing with a sketch or drawing if you think it will enhance your entry.
There are two age categories:
The competition is open to pupils in primary six and primary seven and pupils entering first and second year at high school during autumn 2008.
The closing date for entries is Monday 20th October 2008.
